Apart from the unique case of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/map?dateRange=1832+-+2026&amp;place=Banyoles&amp;orderTimeline=ASC&amp;keyword=\">Banyoles<\/a><\/strong>, which developed the small Vila Ol\u00edmpica (Olympic Village), towns such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/map?dateRange=1832+-+2026&amp;place=Badalona&amp;orderTimeline=ASC&amp;keyword=\">Badalona<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/map?dateRange=1832+-+2026&amp;place=Hospitalet%2520de%2520Llobregat%2C%2520l%25E2%2580%2599&amp;orderTimeline=ASC&amp;keyword=\">Hospitalet de Llobregat<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/map?dateRange=1832+-+2026&amp;place=Mollet%2520del%2520Vall%C3%A8s&amp;orderTimeline=ASC&amp;keyword=\">Mollet del Vall\u00e8s<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/map?dateRange=1832+-+2026&amp;place=Terrassa&amp;orderTimeline=ASC&amp;keyword=\">Terrassa<\/a><\/strong> hosted various disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In some cases, the choice of these sub-venues was directly related to the popularity of the sports in the host cities. Terrassa has a long-standing relationship with hockey, as does Badalona with basketball, with Joventut enjoying a glorious period in Europe between the 1980s and 1990s. Others, such as the choice of Mollet del Vall\u00e8s for the shooting competitions, were based on the availability of police academy facilities. This was the spirit in which the Organising Committee wanted to decide on the events: their continuity once the games were over, their long-term use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to these practical decisions, there were also political considerations: the mayor during the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/map?dateRange=1832+-+2026&amp;place=Barcelona&amp;orderTimeline=ASC&amp;keyword=\">Barcelona<\/a><\/strong> Olympic Games, Pasqual Maragall, belonged to the same party, the PSC (Socialists\u2019 Party of Catalonia), as the mayors of the other cities mentioned, which undoubtedly facilitated communication between institutions and influenced certain decisions.
