This variety is precisely what has been sought, as it reflects the wide range of geographical and morphological conditions offered by the rural context of the counties of Alt and Baix Empord\u00e0, Giron\u00e8s and Pla de l\u2019Estany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along the itinerary, more intimate or enclosed places are combined \u2014where scale plays an important role, such as the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/reurbanitzacio-dullastret\">re-urbanisation of Ullastret<\/a><\/strong>\u2014 with more expansive ones; places of passage or strolling alongside places for gathering; viewpoints, parks, vertical structures that evoke watchtowers or lighthouses offering distant views; as well as recovered and lightly formalised paths that bring us closer to, and into, places which, although they may have lost part of their original use or meaning, have endured over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are places that edge water: either freshwater \u2014such as those found at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/adequacio-de-lentorn-de-lestany-de-banyoles\">Lake Banyoles<\/a><\/strong>, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/parc-del-rec-monar\">Monar canal<\/a><\/strong> at the level of Salt, or the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/la-vora-de-girona-projecte-pilot-riu-ter\">River Ter<\/a><\/strong> in the city of Girona\u2014 or the sea, as in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/edifici-de-recepcio-de-les-ruines-dempuries\">Emp\u00faries<\/a><\/strong>, the first Greek settlement on the Iberian Peninsula, in the Bay of Roses, or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/pacificacio-del-front-maritim-de-lescala\">along the seafront<\/a><\/strong>. There are also other \u201cedges\u201d, such as former agricultural land, particularly market gardens, as in the case of the orchards of Vilabertran, near Figueres, where the boundary between countryside and city is drawn and redrawn; or La Vora de Girona, on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/la-vora-de-girona-projecte-pilot-muntanya-de-les-pedreres\">Les Pedreres hillside<\/a><\/strong>, which is both close at hand and a lookout point.
