Although born in Barcelona, his family roots in Banyoles and his passion for water polo \u2014practised at Club Nataci\u00f3 Banyoles\u2014 led him to settle permanently in the city in 1971.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His early works, such as the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/habitatge-de-la-rambla-30\">three-dwelling building on Carrer de la Rambla<\/a><\/strong> (1970), the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/casa-vilanovacullell\">Vilanova-Cullell House<\/a><\/strong> (1971) \u2014both with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/authors\/albert-illescas-de-la-morena\">Albert Illescas<\/a><\/strong>\u2014 the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/casa-masgrau\">Masgrau-Juanola House<\/a><\/strong> (1972), the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/casa-agustisoler\">Agust\u00ed-Soler House<\/a><\/strong> (1975), and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/edifici-muebles-tarradas\">Muebles Tarradas<\/a><\/strong> (1975), are framed within the artistic conceptualism that permeated Banyoles during the final years of Francoism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At that time, the capital of the Pla de l\u2019Estany region consolidated its position as a nationally recognised cultural hub thanks to the multidisciplinary collectives Tint-1 (1971\u20131973) and Tint-2 (1974\u20131976). These groups, made up of sculptors, painters, designers, architects and intellectuals, promoted a creative renewal that would shape the Catalan cultural scene of the period, with Moner as a key figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rehabilitation of the\u00a0Tint dels Paraires\u00a0(1971), which gave its name to the collectives and provided their exhibition framework, marks the beginning of Jeroni Moner\u2019s extensive work in architectural heritage intervention. In this body of work, the symbiosis between the existing fabric and transformation is very often established through the introduction of industrialised structures, drawing on conceptual rigour and formal boldness. Among his most notable projects are the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/seu-de-la-demarcacio-de-girona-del-collegi-darquitectes-de-catalunya-coac\">rehabilitation of the Pia Almoina<\/a><\/strong> in Girona (1976), with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/authors\/benet-cervera-flotats\">Benet Cervera<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/authors\/arcadi-pla-i-masmiquel\">Arcadi Pla<\/a><\/strong>; the installation of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/restauracio-del-retaule-del-monestir-sant-esteve\">altarpiece of Santa Maria de l\u2019Escala<\/a><\/strong> in the monastery of Sant Esteve de Banyoles (1983); the restoration of the bell tower of the monastery of Sant Miquel de Fluvi\u00e0 (1991); his own residence; Can Bombeta (1992); and the Municipal Centre for Musical Studies of Banyoles (2001).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the cultural effervescence of the 1970s, in 1985 Moner, together with the architect Josep Riera, the biologist Carles Abell\u00e0 and the economist Tom\u00e0s Garrof\u00e9, drafted the urban, economic and landscape studies that enabled Banyoles to be designated as the venue for the rowing events of the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games. This period linked Moner to the major transformation experienced by the city in the early 1990s, through projects such as the special plan for the eastern sector of the lake (Estany), the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/adequacio-de-lentorn-de-lestany-de-banyoles\">upgrading of the lake\u2019s urban edge<\/a><\/strong> \u2014selected for the FAD Awards\u2014 and the reconstruction of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/pesquera-den-malagelada\">Malagelada<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/works\/pesquera-la-guardiola\">Guardiola\u00a0\u2018pesqueres\u2019<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(traditional lakeside pavilions), with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/authors\/josep-riera-i-micalo\">Josep Riera<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/authors\/joaquim-figa-i-mataro\">Joaquim Figa<\/a><\/strong> (1991), as well as the office building and Municipal Theatre, with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arquitecturacatalana.cat\/en\/authors\/lluis-pau-coromines\">Llu\u00eds Pau<\/a><\/strong> (1994).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moner\u2019s commitment to Banyoles, however, was not limited to his work as an architect.
